During Fotofocus Biennial, Archive of Creative Culture hosted an artists talk with social engagement artist Mary Clare Rietz in conversation with collaborator Michelle Slaughter discussing Not To Scale, a video resulting from two live performances that took place on February 3rd, 2018 that included residence and other stakeholders of the Eastside neighborhood in Covington, Kentucky.

 

MoveOn Resist & Win Leadership Summit

This two-day Leadership Summit in Philadelphia, PA with hundreds of grassroots movement leaders from around the country was the culmination of MoveOn’s Resist & Win training program.

 

During the Power of Pink workshop titled “We Like It Like This: Women of Color, Social Organizing, & Progressive Futures” participants were provided historical grounding, lived examples, and practical strategies for social organizing when engaging women of color toward building progressive futures where racial and reproductive justice are at the center.

During the social justice workshop participants created a plan of action for building a “Revolution of Values” for their community in the spirit of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.’s 1967 speech.

This art opening at The Carnegie will feature video, photography, screen prints, and a manifesto written by the people of Eastside - all coming out of the artists' and community collaborators' experiences of making work in/of/by/for people who have a stake in this place.

Eastside stakeholders climbed the Licking River floodwall to put on two live performances - one in daylight, featuring sound, color, and movement; the other after dark, featuring light and voice. The highest landform in their neighborhood and its eastern boundary, community performers used the floodwall as a sort of stage that elevates anyone and anything on top of it to greater visibility.
